Your first prototype

Step 1: Explore your problem space

When you land on Spaceship, you'll see a prompt asking: "What ideas do you want to explore?"

Start by describing the problem you're trying to solve or the idea you want to prototype. You don't need to have all the details figured out—Spaceship will help you refine your thinking.

Example prompt:

Step 2: Review the blueprint

Spaceship will read back your idea and present a blueprint plan that includes:

  • A summary of your problem and proposed solution

  • Key features the prototype will include

  • Technical approach and components

  • Any assumptions made

If clarification is needed, Spaceship will ask questions before proceeding. Take time to review the blueprint and answer any questions to ensure the prototype matches your vision.

Example questions Spaceship might ask:

  • "Should managers be able to see leave across their team only, or across the entire department?"

  • "Do you need different leave types (annual, medical, etc.) or just general leave?"

  • "Should there be an approval workflow, or is this just for visibility?"

Step 3: Build

Once you confirm the blueprint, Spaceship begins building. It will:

  1. Generate the application code

  2. Test and self-correct any errors

  3. Deploy your prototype to a secure environment

You can watch the progress as Spaceship works through each component.

Step 4: Review and iterate

Once your prototype is ready:

  • Test the functionality

  • Identify what needs to change

  • Continue the conversation to refine your prototype

Example iteration:

Use the preview feature to try out the prototype. Only you will be able to access the prototype in this mode.

Step 5: Publish your prototype

Once you're happy with your prototype, publish it to get a shareable URL.

Access controls: Only public officers with valid .gov.sg email addresses can access published prototypes. Members of the public cannot access them, ensuring your prototypes remain within the government ecosystem.
